    Hunting Topaz in Mason

    There’s no denying the Texas Hill Country is gorgeous. In my latest article for Texas Co-op Power magazine, I returned to Mason, Texas—where my husband’s family is from—to explore topaz, the official state gem. Did you know Mason County is the only county in Texas where you can find topaz?     Stories of the Sky

    When I worked at the Midland Convention & Visitors Bureau my favorite place to bring tour groups and journalists was the world’s largest collection of World War II aviation nose art at the CAF Airpower Museum. Darrell, a veteran, was our tour guide all those years. He brought those panels to life with the stories he told us. The brave soldiers painted their lady on the side of their plane to help get them through the tough times so far from those they loved.
