Hunting Topaz in Mason

There’s no denying the Texas Hill Country is gorgeous. In my latest article for Texas Co-op Power magazine, I returned to Mason, Texas—where my husband’s family is from—to explore topaz, the official state gem. Did you know Mason County is the only county in Texas where you can find topaz?

For us, the real prize in Mason is visiting family, dining together at the many quaint restaurants, and fishing in the Llano River, but there are many opportunities to obtain the official state gem when you’re in town.
