Retreating To Downtown Alpine
Texas Monthly, Summer 2018 It’s no secret the Big Bend Region of Far West Texas is one of my favorite places to venture. My husband earned his master’s degree at Sul Ross State University and so I’d join him on weekends in Alpine and explored the town while he was in class. It’s an easy place to fall for. Great art, walkable downtown, live music, and delicious food. All surrounded by the tranquil Texas Mountains. Rendezvous on Route 66
The Mother Road still offers a journey through a slice of American life My second cover story is featured in the July 2018 issue of Texas Co-op Power magazine—all about Route 66. This was a fun one to write! In preparation, I re-watched Pixar’s Cars and read (embarrassingly, for the first time) The Grapes of Wrath. If you’re like me and read Stephen King rather than the required reading in school and are now trying to catch up on the classics, I highly recommend this one. Steinbeck is one of the greats.
